My nephew just celebrated his 1st birthday on March 23rd, and his parents (my sister and brother in law) threw a fun filled birthday party for him. At the party, we premiered this year one film… produced by Elysium Productions. There are so many milestone moments in life, and your child’s 1st year birthday is certainly a major milestone. This film is such a beautiful way to capture this special time.
We were ecstatic to show the gorgeous feature of Cortnie & Donny’s wedding in Brides Magazine in our last post: (see here) , and here are the highlights from the wedding, so beautifully captured by Elysium Productions – and using film!
We are so ecstatic to be able to share Cortnie & Donny’s Wedding featured in the April/May 2013 edition of Brides Magazine! It was one of the most amazing experiences working with Cortnie, who is absolutely the most talented & creative event designer I know, owner of Canvas & Canopy Events, but it was truly an honor & very humbling to be entrusted by Cortnie & Donny as their wedding planner.
We love the description from Brides Magazine: “A Shore Thing.. this San Diego event designer and her singer beau put a new spin on the classic beach beach with a castaway-style winter ceremony and personalized details featuring silhouettes, chinoiserie bears, and quotes from Dr. Seuss”.
The details in the wedding were infinite… and will require a separate post to go through, so stay tuned! But we wanted to thank all of the fabulous event professionals who provided their services to make Cortnie & Donny’s wedding “completely magical”!

Every wedding is of course very special to us, but Jana & Andy’s wedding dear to our hearts because Jana is from The Special Day family. She was our first ever intern while she was still attending Cornell University in their Hotel Management, Events Program. We are so proud of her as she is now the General Manager of one of L.A.’s prominent restaurants. It was truly an honor to be able to help Jana & Andy with their amazing wedding that had touches of Old Hollywood Glamour, Classic & Chic styling. Jana’s Vera Wang gown was breathtaking, and the decor at the Majestic Halls (a historical building in downtown Los Angeles that used to be a bank, and with a bank vault still!) was awe-inspiring thanks to Nisie’s Enchanted Florist, G2 Audio & Lighting, Arriba L&H, and Town & Country Rentals. Of course the food was hands down delicious since the catering was by Contemporary Catering – as expectations were high from our foodie couple (after all Jana is a restaurant GM!). As always, Elysium Productions always tells the story of the wedding day as it unfolds… in Jana & Andy’s same day edit…

Mona & Vince are one of the sweetest couple’s ever!! I remember the many Skype sessions with Vince in St. Louis, and Mona in New Jersey, myself in Los Angeles – they hired me “over the phone”, and I’m so grateful for the trust they placed in me to help them plan their wedding. We developed an amazing relationship where they put faith in trust in me as the professional.
Often times on the wedding day, as I’m in the mode of having to think about what’s happening next, and prepping for the next event on the timeline, I don’t get to really listen to what’s being said at the ceremony… but I was very fortunate to have been able to take in their vows and the entire ceremony as I was the “ring pup” sitter for “Buster”. I was moved to tears (which also doesn’t happen very often!). Their love is so genuine & pure. The ever so talented team of Elysium Productions captured these sentiments so beautifully in this same day edit of their wedding at the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, California.

The Special Day’s team just returned from 3 weeks in Asia producing the destination wedding in Shanghai for Crystal and Sidney. It was an amazing event and can’t wait to share more photos and film from the wedding! Stay tuned!
