Hazele & Kyle live in Austin, Texas. They were married first in an intimate Catholic wedding amongst immediate family only, and then a year later they returned to Los Angeles for a fun reception to celebrate their marriage with their closest friends & family. When Hazele had initially contacted me, we were talking about who she was referred to us by, which coincidentally we found out that her husband was my friend from college!
Hazele & Kyle’s request was to to have a modern, urban loft setting for their reception, with food stations and lounge settings. So we found them Bellevarado Studios in Los Angeles, a photo studio with a large cyc wall. The building was a warehouse from 1927 – exposed brick, loft ceilings, perfect setting!
It was also important to Hazele & Kyle that the reception be eco-friendly. Invitations were printed on recycled paper with soy-based ink. The logo was a “LOVE” logo that contained recycle graphics within the letters. All of the catered food by Good Gracious Events was from local suppliers & sustainable. We used all rental items – glassware, china, flatware, etc, with no disposable style products. Any plastic or glass bottles used for the bar were collected for recycling. Even the linens from Wildflower Linen were made from organic fibers, with eco-friendly cleaning methods. The LED lighting was energy efficient (saves 90% energy compared to standard lighting). The Mille Fiori used sustainable flowers and succulents (which require very little water). The favors to all the guests were reusable grocery bags to help discourage use of plastic or paper bags.
All of the guests had a lot of fun at Hazele & Kyle’s reception – even entertained by the bridesmaids & groomsmen who each performed a choreographed routine – the ladies won it with their routine with Jabbawockeez inspiration!
