Janet & Roy’s wedding remains to be one our most unique events ever! When I had first met Janet & Roy, I remember them telling me they wanted to wedding to feel like a very glamourous entertainment party (since Roy is in the entertainment & film industry and Janet in the fashion industry), with a red carpet & all – not a ballroom event, no typical wedding venues – but a location that really stood out! Our endeavor then began to find the perfect location that encompassed everything we needed, but also could more than 400 guests! Finally, we found the Culver Studios (most well known for where Gone With the Wind was filmed), and Lisa Garvey at the studio who helped me produce Janet & Roy’s fabulous soundstage wedding!
If you have ever been in a soundstage, it is a large blank box, 30′ tall ceilings, and not very aesthetically pleasing to the eye because the point of a soundstage is to build sets & transform it to whatever you need it to be. This to me was like being a kid in a candy store! Janet & Roy gave us free reign to design & plan everything, so to say we literally built this wedding from ground up makes me extremely proud!
The theme was Modern Glamour, and the color palette black & white highlighted with yellow. We worked with an amazing team of event professionals as well as studio production professionals. The lighting production in the soundstage was AMAZING, and it’s not everyday you get to have a 30′ tall screen to display the photo montage and Same Day Edit video! The Mille Fiori did such a gorgeous job with the floral design, as we had 4 different styles of centerpieces & tablescapes for 50 tables! The ceremony area took place in 1/3 of the studio which we later transformed into the lounge area while guests were dining in the other part of the soundstage.
A definitive complement from any client that we have done our job well is when they refer us to their friends & family. Since their wedding, we have been privileged to help plan many more events for their close friends, and family members, including Ana & Eddie’s wedding, and Emily & John’s destination wedding in Kauai. But the most important part for me is the friendship I have built with them, and now truly a part of each other’s lives. In January 2011 this year, they welcomed their first child, Aaron Choi – and maybe in 20-30 years, he will be my client too!
Thank you to Aaron Delesie for the always AMAZING photos! Janet & Roy’s wedding was also featured in Bride & Bloom Magazine, which the feature is also included!
